Students in Exploring Graphic Design will learn the basic elements of – and principles behind – creating and communicating in two dimensional
space. They begin by working with traditional tools on simple exercises, and then move on to progressively more
complex assignments involving problem solving and the expression of ideas. Eventually students will begin to work in the computer
lab, using typography/illustration and imaging software. Topics covered will include composition and visual aesthetics, analyzing
problems, generating and sketching ideas, typography basics, color issues, image making, and presenting solutions and
ideas to peers.
